Pwllheli is one of the most under rated foodie holiday destinations in North Wales, with an incredible collection of eateries made up of gastropubs, international restaurants and traditional Welsh diners. However, the real highlight are the cafes in Pwllheli, with something to appeal to all members of the family.

From seaside cafes and family friendly establishments with their own amusement arcades to retro train station eateries and cafes which are contenders for the best breakfasts in North Wales, there are plenty of fantastic Pwllheli cafes to choose from.

We’ve taken on the tough task of dining at many of the cafes in Pwllheli so we can highlight what we consider to be the best places to turn to when hunger strikes. This should help you be able to make a quick decision, making it less likely that you or any of your companions suffer from the effects of being hangry!

1. Caffi Sol
Pwllheli is a good, old fashioned seaside town with all manner of family friendly attractions, many of which are to be found at Caffi Sol. One thing you can be sure of is that you won’t leave here hungry, with the portions being very substantial. There’s also plenty to keep children entertained in Caffi Sol which is also doubles as Pwllheli’s seaside amusement arcade with a wide selection of arcade gaming systems and even a fairground where kids can have fun on the dodgems while the parents make the most of the outdoor space next to the sea which is a haven during the summer season.

2. Caffi Largo
Located right next to the stunning Pwllheli promenade and its beautiful beach, Caffi Largo is open from 9am till 4pm each day and serves a wide selection of breakfasts, lunch, desserts and larger menu items which are all freshly prepared on-site. 3. Buffers Cafe at Pwllheli Station
What makes Buffers cafe so special is its location at Pwllheli train station. There is very much a retro railway feel to this establishment which serves fresh hot and cold food to take away from 8:30am till 2:30pm each day. There’s a little bit of everything on the menu with generous portions at low prices. The breakfast menu items are amongst the most popular and many adopt railway terminology with Thomas the Tank (bacon, sausage, beans, hash browns, toast and egg) and Orient Express (veggie sausages, hash browns, egg, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and toast) being two of the more memorable.

Another factor which makes Buffers Cafe so popular is that it is a dog friendly establishment, complete with dog beds and water bowls. Your four legged companion can expect an equally warm welcome from the friendly team, with the dedicated kids menu ensuring that all members of your family will be accommodated.

4. Morlo Lounge
Part of the Lounges collection of cafes and bars across the UK which has been gradually expanding since 2002. There are now 250 Lounges establishments across the UK with the Morlo Lounge firmly establishing itself as one of the best cafes in Pwllheli. You can expect a relaxed and jovial atmosphere here with food served from morning through till night with a Brunch menu alongside sandwiches and larger dishes for lunch or dinner. Tapas is also available for those with a smaller appetite alongside a fabulous selection of deserts.

Morlo Lounge does their utmost to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements with plenty of gluten free and vegan options. 5. Felin Fwyd
If you are looking for a takeout option and have a particularly sweet tooth, there’s no better cafe in Pwllheli than Felin Fwyd. Located on Stryd Moch, Felin Fwyd is the Pwllheli cafe which is the furthest away from Gimblet Rock Holiday Park being just over a mile away on foot. Nevertheless, it is still worth making the journey from the freshly made food which is crafted using the freshest of ingredients.

Open from 9am till 3pm every day except Sunday, there are plenty of options to choose from cakes and coffee, to salad boxes, quiches, jacket potatoes and sandwiches, there’s plenty of items on the menu to set your stomach rumbling. That includes hearty breakfast baps and even afternoon tea packages. Perhaps the biggest limitation about Felin Fwyd is the lack of sit-in options, with there being just two tables available. It’s still more than worth paying a visit though, especially during the summer season if you can find somewhere scenic to take in the sun.
