Colwyn Bay Beach & Colwyn Bay Promenade

North Wales is the ultimate seaside holiday destination and one of its greatest seaside resorts is unquestionably Colwyn Bay. Few destinations capture the very best of a traditional North Wales seaside holiday quite like Colwyn Bay beach.

Stretching for miles along the stunning North Wales coastline, this award-winning beach combines wide expanses of soft golden sand, excellent water quality and an impressive selection of nearby facilities that make it one of the region’s most popular family attractions.

Whether you are planning a relaxing afternoon beside the sea, an active day exploring the coast or simply somewhere to enjoy spectacular views across the Irish Sea, Colwyn Bay offers something for visitors of every age. Located just a short drive from both Bryn Defaid Holiday Park and Tan Rallt Holiday Park, it’s easy to see why so many of our guests choose to spend several days exploring this beautiful stretch of coastline during their holiday in North Wales at a Pario Holiday Park..

Colwyn Bay Beach
There are many stunning beaches across North Wales, but Colwyn Bay beach is unquestionably one of the best of them. Its broad stretch of soft golden sand provides plenty of space for families to spread out, even during the height of summer, while the beach’s excellent water quality makes it a popular destination for paddling, swimming and enjoying the fresh sea air.

For younger children, there are few better places to spend the day. The gently sloping sands are perfect for building sandcastles, digging moats and collecting shells, while parents have the option to relax or get involved with the seaside fun. During low tide, the beach becomes impressively wide, creating an enormous natural playground for families to enjoy.

Another reason holiday makers return to Colwyn Bay year after year is the fantastic choice of facilities located close to the beachfront. Within easy walking distance you’ll find an excellent selection of cafes, traditional pubs, welcoming bars and family-friendly restaurants serving everything from fresh seafood to classic British favourites. Fast food kiosks provide convenient options for lunch by the sea, while several ice cream parlours tempt visitors with a wide variety of flavours.

No visit would be complete without stopping at the award-winning Parisella’s Ice Cream. Famous throughout North Wales, Parisella’s has built an outstanding reputation for producing delicious homemade ice cream using quality ingredients, making it the perfect treat during a day spent on the beach.

Colwyn Bay Promenade
Running alongside the beach is the spectacular Colwyn Bay promenade, which has recently been transformed in recent years following an extensive redevelopment programme carried out by Conwy Council. The result is one of the most modern and attractive seafront promenades anywhere in the UK, offering a fantastic environment for families, walkers and cyclists alike.

Wide pathways, attractive landscaping and uninterrupted sea views make every visit a pleasure, while plenty of thoughtful additions ensure there is always something to keep children entertained. Families will discover a fun crazy golf course along the promenade together with a variety of interactive activities and challenges that help break up longer walks and keep younger visitors entertained along the way.

The Colwyn Bay promenade is also one of the highlights of the North Wales Coast Path. Walkers can head west towards the popular watersports centre at Porth Eirias before continuing on to Llanddulas and Abergele, enjoying dramatic coastal scenery along the way. Alternatively, travelling east leads visitors through the attractive seaside village of Rhos-on-Sea before eventually reaching the historic walled town of Conwy.

Cyclists also love this stretch of coastline thanks to its smooth, largely level surface and magnificent sea views. Whether you choose to walk or cycle, you’ll find plenty of benches positioned along Colwyn Bay promenade, offering ideal places to stop for a rest or simply admire the stunning seaside views.

Is Colwyn Bay Beach Dog Friendly?
Many visitors travelling to North Wales like to bring their four-legged companions along, and a common question is whether Colwyn Bay beach welcomes dogs.

The answer is yes, although there are some seasonal restrictions in place. Certain sections of the beach remain dog friendly throughout the entire year, while designated areas have restrictions during the busiest summer months to help ensure the beach remains enjoyable for everyone. Before visiting, it is always worth checking the latest signage displayed along the seafront to confirm which sections are available for dog walking.

The good news for those enjoying a pet friendly holiday in North Wales is that Colwyn Bay promenade remains an excellent place to enjoy dog friendly walks throughout the year. The wide pathways, fresh sea air and beautiful coastal scenery make it one of the best dog walking routes in North Wales.

Colwyn Bay Beach Parking
Finding Colwyn Bay beach parking is generally straightforward thanks to several convenient options located right along the seafront. Pay and display parking is available at various locations along the promenade, allowing visitors to park just a short walk from the beach and its facilities. These car parks provide easy access whether you’re visiting for a quick stroll or planning a full day on the beach.

Another popular option is the parking available at Porth Eirias, which provides excellent access to both the beach and the promenade. From here it’s only a short walk to many of Colwyn Bay’s main attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring Colwyn Bay beach, promenade and the many other attractions available in Colwyn Bay town centre.

Porth Eirias
Sitting alongside Colwyn Bay promenade is Porth Eirias which has become a destination in its own right in recent years. There are two reasons for this, one of them is its on-site watersports facilities which have made it popular with enthusiasts who enjoy jet skiing, sailing, paddle boarding and power boating.

The second reason is that the impressive waterfront building is also home to the award-winning Bryn Williams Restaurant at Porth Eirias, one of the region’s finest dining destinations. Open between 9.30am and 4pm on most days, the restaurant serves outstanding breakfasts and relaxed afternoon meals, showcasing the best local Welsh ingredients in a menu featuring traditional Welsh dishes alongside modern gastropub favourites. Its stunning coastal location makes it an ideal place to relax before or after exploring the beach.
