From stunning coastal walks to cosy cafes that welcome pets almost as they do humans, Colwyn Bay offers plenty of activities to keep your dog’s tail wagging.

To help you ahead of your next getaway to the region, we thought we’d put together a list summarising our top 5 best things to do in Colwyn Bay with dogs so that you can arrive ready to take advantage of the many wonders the region has to offer.

1. Walking Along the Promenade
Colwyn Bay promenade has recently undergone a significant redevelopment which has turned it into one of the most vibrant and modern seafronts in the country. From crazy golf courses and children’s play areas, to sensational restaurants, cafes and even public seating with WiFi internet access and places to charge your mobile device, the Colwyn Bay seafront has it all.

However, one thing which hasn’t changed are the views which remain a sight to behold. Luckily the facilities on offer on the promenade itself are a match for these stunning vistas which provide a breathtaking backdrop to dog friendly walks that you’ll enjoy almost as much as your pet and your children.

2. Seaside Days Out
Colwyn Bay is the ultimate seaside town, with soft, sandy beaches and clean waters which make for the perfect family day out whenever the sun has its hat on. Certain sections of the beach are also dog friendly year round, ensuring that no member of the family needs to be left out.

When you’re not building sandcastles or sunbathing, you can take your dog for a stroll or let them have fun in the sea. It’s a great place for your dog to burn off some energy while you take in the fresh sea air and panoramic views of the coast.

There are plenty of amenities nearby too, making it easy to grab a drink or a bite to eat throughout the day. More on these in a moment…

3. Visit a Cafe
One thing we can say for certain is that the Colwyn Bay community are a group of dog lovers. This is reflected by the many dog friendly cafes along the seafront and into the middle of the town itself.

One of our favourites is the Parisella’s on the main promenade, who are famous for the quality of their award winning ice creams. They are so good in fact that we serve them ourselves in our ice cream parlour at Marine Holiday Park. Their seafront cafe also serves a range of light bites, hot meals and hot/cold beverages too, not to mention their dog menu which includes all time doggie favourites such as sausages!

Another pet friendly cafe in Colwyn Bay is Bobcats Coffee which is located right across the way from the main railway station. As the name suggests, the owners are cat lovers but are happy to welcome paws of all descriptions. Not only do their mugs feature pictures of cute cats, but they even serve “Ginger Cat Coffee”. There is certainly a bit of a theme here…

4. Countryside Walks
As an alternative to the famous coastal walks, there are also plenty of nature trails and country parks around Colwyn Bay which are pet friendly and prime for exploring with your best friend by your side. This includes the enchanting Fairy Glen, where you can enjoy a short riverside walk in a woodland environment.

Another option is the Bryn Euryn Nature Reserve which is technically located in Rhos-on-Sea, but this is just pretty much right on the doorstep of Colwyn Bay. Here you can enjoy a series of walking routes through the woodland and to the top of the Bryn which you will be able to enjoy some epic views.

5. Visit a Gallery
Finally, if you love art almost as much as you love pets, then you’re in luck as the Ink Art Gallery & Lounge in the town centre is dog friendly. Here you can immerse yourself in the vibrant art scene in Colwyn Bay, with the walls being covered in an eclectic range of art styles developed by local creative types.

While your eyes are set to take in some memorable sights, your taste buds are in for a treat too with the gallery also serving spectacular coffees with a decaf and alternative milk options also available. It’s definitely worth a visit if you have even a passing interest in art, and your dog is sure to appreciate the warm welcome too.

This is just a short sample of the many dog friendly things to do in Colwyn Bay. You can enjoy having all of this on your holiday home doorstep when you stay or own a holiday home at Bryn Defaid or Tan Rallt Holiday Parks.
